I formed "I Am Who I Am" after an incident in my life that put me down physically, motionally and mentally and initially operated it as an online website to offer a forum for support and referral sources for emotionally and physically abused women. I was down but not out. Thanks to the help of a few supportive and wise people who believed in me and helped me through it, I found the internal courage to move on.
As part of my personal recovery, I realized that if bad things could happen to me then they could happen to other women who were in the same position. I knew that they needed help and I knew that I had to step-up to the plate....even though I had no idea of what to do and how to do it.
My first charitable activity was sponsoring an Easter Luncheon for the women and children at Gratitude House which included gift bags for all.
I discovered while working on these projects, assisting women helps, but empowering young women would be a preventive measure, and longer lasting. I Am Who I Am, held it's first annual I Am Royal workshop on July 28, 2016 which was designed with prevention in mind. Wonderful speakers from all walks of life shared their vision as to how strength and knowledge could help them as they entered adulthood.
